About Petro-SIM 5

Petro-SIM 5 introduces revolutionary new functionality for existing Petro-SIM users. By fully combining the capabilities of Petro-SIM Refining and Petro-SIM Production into a single release, you can choose to build your simulations using either a refinery or production theme. What's more, all your existing cases will load and work without any need to recalibrate refinery reactors, giving you results consistent with the latest service pack releases of Petro-SIM 4.1 and Petro-SIM Production 4.2.

Here is a summary of some important new features.

  • Improved User Interface - the Petro-SIM user interface has adopted the Fluent Ribbon style of UI with tabbed toolbars filled with graphical buttons and controls. Experience improved usability that will make it easier for you to use Petro-SIM features and capabilities all with negligable impact on performance. The Petro-SIM workspace and plotting features have also been modernized.
  • Time Series provides a powerful feature that enables you to look at planned and current facilities across time. You can use it do define and run simulations running out over several years all from a single case. Examine how well your process facilities can handle changing feeds as wells and reservoirs decline. Analyze how fixed bed refinery reaction systems decline in activity over time and much more.
  • Workflow Manager - Petro-SIM's Workflow Management tools enable you to integrate Petro-SIM simulations into your business systems as well as customising functionality within the simulation itself. You can use the new Workflow Manager to apply rules to your simulations that enforce business and design practices or validate results. Share workflows between cases using our publish and subscribe technology proven with refinery calibration and assay data.
  • Lab Analysis - Petro_SIM's new Lab Analysis tool enables you to explore operating profiles and phase envelopes within your simulations. Perform a Lab Analysis to examine hydrate formation and inhibition calculations, using trusted gas hydrates technology from Infochem Multiflash. Use new characterization methods from Multiflash to set up reservoir fluids from black oil or more detailed SCN analyses, mixing such black oil streams freely within your simulation.
  • New Unit Operations - Expand the scope of your simulation with new unit operations for steam and power. Model steam headers through to integrated steam and power systems using heat recovery from gas turbines to raise steam.
  • Improved Refinery Reactors - Benefit from improved technology and robustness in our market leading reactor models, bringing new technology to bear in hydroprocessing and FCC alongside improvements across the board.
  • Improved Heat Transfer models - Improvements to pressure drop and radiant flux predictions in fired heaters and enhanced functionality in HX-Monitor allows you to get more detail into your heat transfer modelling.
  • Improved Reporting and Excel support - Petro-SIM expands support for large Microsoft Excel workbooks and provides direct publishing from Petro-SIM. The Flowsheet Report utility previously available only in Petro-SIM Production simplifies checking and reporting of all balances within your cases.
  • Platform Enhancements - Take advantage of Petro-SIM's platform enhancements that include a new Explorer application and the first native 64-bit version that frees you from memory limits on simulation size.

This build combines all the capabilities of Petro-SIM Production and Petro-SIM Refining under a single banner, Petro-SIM. You can choose which theme you prefer to build your simulations - Production or Refining and quickly switch between them. For Refining users, Petro-SIM and Petro-SIM Express are combined into a single start-up that automatically upgrades itself to refinery-wide capability as you need it.
