Petro-SIM v7.6 released

We are proud to announce that Petro-SIM 7.6 was commercially released on July 3rd, 2025. This new version is available today for download by our extensive user base and is also available to trial by anyone interested. Petro-SIM v7.6 delivers enhancements across first-principles modeling, and advanced optimization. It empowers design engineers, operators, and business leaders to accelerate digitalization, and energy transition while maximizing profitability, operational performance, and sustainability.

The key features and benefits of Petro-SIM v7.6 software include:

  • New FTR-SIM (Fischer-Tropsch Reactor Model). Simulates Fischer-Tropsch synthesis for SAF production, and enables users to optimize operations and model the integration with downstream hydroprocessing for a complete digital twin of sustainable fuel production.
  • New NOMAD Solver for Optimization. Solves difficult blackbox optimization problems to optimize energy efficiency while streamlining production planning and reducing emissions.
  • Advanced Polymer Modeling Powered by Predici. Predicts polymer properties, optimizes grade transitions, and monitors catalyst impacts to support dynamic production digital twins to minimize downtime and off-spec material.
  • Enhanced Assay Work-Up Tools. Handle complex assay cut structures and overlapping data with greater accuracy.
  • Renewables and Hydroprocessing Enhancements (DHTR-SIM, HXX-SIM). More robust hydrotreating, isomerization, and hydrocracking simulations. The upgrades include liquid recycle and external gas quench features, which optimize reactor performance and reduce solving times by up to 30%.
  • FCC-SIM Improvements for Bio-Oil Co-Processing. Improves assessment of inert loads in FCC overheads during co-processing bio-oils to help control emissions and optimize product quality.

  • Water electrolyser which models alkaline, PEM and SOEC type electrolysers to enable efficient design and optimal operation of green hydrogen production processes
  • Improvement in the DHTR-SIM supporting isomerization processes to improve cold flow properties using more diversified renewable feeds for Sustainable Aviation Fuel production modelling
  • Enhanced assay work up tools adding reconciliation and PNA profiling algorithms to improve the detailed representation of naphtha cuts for any crude assay, leading to precise and reliable assay synthesis
  • Improved polymer modelling allowing Users to optimize the entire petrochemical-polymer-plastic recycling process within a circular economy framework
