Petro-SIM PureWeb
Introduction
Petro-SIM 6.1 and onward can be used under Calgary Scientific's PureWeb platform. In simple terms, this makes Petro-SIM accessible via a web browser:
Installation and Licensing
You need to install the PureWeb option (available as part of the Sim Suite installation) on a suitable web server machine. The server does not need IIS or Apache installed. Any machine that meets the system requirements should suffice.
You will also need the following licenses:
- A PureWeb license option in your KBC license file. Contact the software helpdesk about this license.
- A PureWeb license from Calgary Scientific (to be placed under C:\CSI\PureWeb\Server\conf on the host server machine). This license is provided as part of the KBC installation.
Accessing PureWeb
Once this is all installed, double click the "Start PureWeb" shortcut on the server desktop. On the server machine, open a web browser window and navigate to http://localhost:8080. Then log in using the initial user name and password of admin. Click on "Apps" on the top right menu in the browser, and click on Petro-SIM or its icon. You should now see Petro-SIM running inside the web browser. The web option will be accessible from wherever the port on your server machine is accessible.
You can find the general PureWeb documentation here. It covers topics such as user administration.
Limitations
Most mainstream browsers (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, Safari) are supported.
Not all of Petro-SIM's functionality is accessible under PureWeb. All the options on the ribbon bar are not accessible, and limited PFD interactivity is provided. You can navigate the flowsheet and choose which PFD to view. You can click on items on the menu or PFD to open views. You can interact with views that open, although all functionality such as drag and drop is not supported.
Feedback
At this point KBC is interested in feedback on the PureWeb functionality. You can contact us via the software helpdesk software@kbcat.com.
