Refinery Reactors

Petro-SIM 7.7 introduces key improvements and added capabilities to the Reactor Suite to keep up with the demands in the industry

HXX-SIM

Lube Hydrocrackers

  • Lube mode added as an add-on feature to HCR-SIM, tied to a separate license making it a fully functional Lube hydrocracker model with all external objects and calculations inside the reactor.
  • Feed and product characterization of lube oil properties by carbon number (pour point & viscosity introduced)
  • Calibration and prediction of yields and lube oil properties
  • Reaction network modeling, Equilibrium limited lube kinetics and tuning factors to improve yield responses
  • Supports R1 R2, R1 R3, R1 R3 with interstage stripper configurations
  • Enabled Catalyst database feature in HXX-SIM to incorporate ability to represent multiple catalyst layers in a single bed

Bio oil co-processing in HCR-SIM

  • Enabling of hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) reactions within the Renewables mode option in HCR-SIM to support co-processing bio-oils in Hydrocrackers. The HCR-SIM will use the same Renewables license that enables processing bio-oils in Hydrotreaters

FCC-SIM

  • New Feed characterization method based on SG, Watson K, Concarbon and Sulfur added to FCC-SIM
  • Ability to mix ZSM-5 additives using the CDB

Furnaces

  • End of run calculations configured that helps predict furnace operational limits. The feature uses dynamic fouling kinetics to forecast furnace shutdown and applies to coker furnace, VGO cracker, Visbreaker and refinery furnaces. The functionality is activated by checking a new check box called 'coke tuning active' and requires 2 points in time for calibration.
  • Improvements in SG synthesis handling when slurry blends with main feed– also impact VGO cracker, Visbreaker. A new stream 'cracked furnace oil' has been added to ensure consistent synthesis outside of reactor.

ISOM-SIM

  • Updates made to the ISOM-SIM Kinetic Model
    • Implemented RX activity factor
    • New multi-variable search option for C6 P isomerization
    • Updated Equilibrium constants of C7 P and C8 P Isom reactions
    • New default rate constant for Aromatics saturation
  • Added New net yield reports

AROM-SIM

  • C12 A disproportionation (new pathway) from C8 A in isomerization model
