Petro-SIM 7.6 improvements to Unit Operations

FTR-SIM

  • Developed a new FTR-SIM reactor to produce sustainable fuel SAF from syngas based on Fischer Tropsch technology:
+ Performs rigorous heat and material balances
+ Calculates incremental changes per segment
    + Performs heat transfer calculations
+ Kinetic model for two types of catalyst:Cobalt and Iron)
+ Comprehensive kinetic tunning for all involved reactions (FT, methanation, WGS, alpha / beta product distribution, catalyst deactivation)
+ Calibration with plant data ( connection to meters and Historian)

Base Delta

  • New in=out mode (added in Petro-SIM 7.5):
+ This new functionality in the Base Delta unit op just lets the material through without applying any base delta vectors
+ One example of application could be a situation when during the initial steps of the plant start up, there is material recirculating through the reactors, and no reactions are taking place

New In=Out option
  • Publish/subscribe for multiple Base Delta solvers:
+ The Base Delta unit op in Petro-SIM v7.6 allows you to subscribe and publish to/from multiple base delta solvers

New Publish/Subscribe to multiple Base Delta solvers option
  • Give user built base delta tables an easy way to initialize to zero (added in Petro-SIM 7.5):
+ When building a base delta table manually in a Base Delta unit op, the User can choose to fill all <empty> values with 0.0
    + There is a Fill EMPTY’s button

New Fill Empty cells option
  • New component flow template:
+ New option to add Flash Specifications and all stream component flows of a chosen basis
+ After hitting the Apply button it should add your chosen flash specs, and all the component flows to the observed variable list where the User picks and chooses which streams require those variables created for

New Stream Components option
  • New options for the Base Delta solver:
+ The LP Utility now has a special Validation variable set that encompasses all the manipulated variables (in the other variable sets) so that the user can employ this special variable set for validating the sub-model
+ A new page was added in the Sub-Model tab. This Validation page can be used for running randomized cases so that the observed results can be collected and used for validation

New Extended Validation page
  • Show regression terms in LPU in both property and property*flow basis:
+ Users are generally interested in the final m-coefficients for the LP model, it would be helpful have an option to show these coefficients on either a “Property only” basis or a “Property * Flow” basis

New properties option
  • New ability to specify stream type per cut in base delta op synthesis cuts (added in Petro-SIM 7.5):
+ The Base Delta unit operation allows the ability to specify the stream type for synthesis
+ Even if having a fully configured Base Delta page on the reactors working (generating multiple products, etc.), this new functionality is necessary for extended usage of the Base-Delta operation

New specify stream type option

Water Electrolyser

  • The User can input polarization curves for different temperatures in the Water Electrolyser

New option for polarization curves data entry

Equipment on/off state colouring option

  • A new colouring option was implemented in Petro-SIM steady-state and dynamics, to visually identify the operating status of pumps, compressors and valves
  • For pumps and compressors, the new option changes colours for either on or off conditions
  • For valves, they can be coloured when full shut, wide open and at any other position

Equipment on/off colouring option

Pipe segment

  • More commercial pipe diameters and schedules information

Additional piping schedules and nominal diameters

  • Plot flow regime maps for multiphase flow correlations
*The following flow maps are available:
    + Beggs&Brill
    + Aziz, Govier, Fogarasi
    + Petalas-Aziz
    + Gregory, Aziz, Mandhane
    + Duns&Ros

New flow regime maps

Calibration option for Compressor, Expander and Pump

  • The ability to calibrate performance curves based on plant data, specifically, discharge pressure
  • A new Calibration tab has been added to the pump, compressor and expander unit operation in Petro-SIM v7.6
  • This new feature will use the Calibration tools and fine-tune three scaling factors to shift the performance curves based on Flow (equipment capacity), Head (discharge pressure) and Efficiency (discharge temperature)
