Malfunctions in Dynamics

  • Manufacturing and process industries often are run by distributed control systems (DCS), with minimal input from operating personnel. The basic building block of a process control system is the control loop. These control systems help a process to run in a stable, predictable and consistent manner.
  • The process variable is the measured value of the process output. This value is sent to the controller. The controller takes necessary action to match this measured value to the desired set point value entered by the operator. The set point of the controller can be sometimes calculated or based on a signal from an outside source.
  • Training operators on the disturbances in the process control is invaluable for them as this can equip them with necessary knowledge to troubleshoot in such situations.

Usability improvements

These are examples of the usability improvements

  • Displaying Check Utility for a Valve.
  • Copy/Paste of strip charts between cases.
  • Improvements to have a more stable heat exchanger model.

Improved PFR performance

  • The new solution provides the true plug flow option in both steady state and dynamics mode, given typical low residence times, along with the traditional older option.
  • The user will have a faster way to get a true PFR solution with one segment.

Logical operations in Dynamics

  • The new functionality in selector block operation accepts a number of input variable sources and based on its settings, determines one output value.
  • The output value is by default directed to only one output connection, but up to eight additional output targets can be added.
