Version 4.1 - LP Utility Enhancements

The LP Utility in Petro-SIM is at the heart of how many of you generate data for your LP and Scheduling tools using simulation. We have progressively enhanced its functionality since its introduction with Petro-SIM 3.0 and we continue this with 4.1.
- We have improved the table generation in a couple of ways that should reduce the need to build and edit templates
- You can specify the display order for streams and properties directly within the LP Utility itself. Use the new
controls on the LP Tags page to do this.
- We now support long LP tag names in auto-generated tables and templates, removing the previous restrictions to 3 character tag names
- You can specify the display order for streams and properties directly within the LP Utility itself. Use the new
- More robust regression calculations now apply when you build base-delta models using multiple datasets rather than perturbation. We have incorporated Alan J. Miller's LSQ algorithm for unconstrained weighted least-squares analysis and have found it to be more reliable than the other least-squares and singular variable decomposition techniques we also employ.
- We have improved the data collection process, building on the ability to investigate a single dataset by also being able to rerun that dataset. Together with a new automatic retry mechanism for datasets that fail to converge (see Retry Unconverged Datasets check-box on the Controls page), these changes should reduce the convergence failure rate and give you better tools to analyze failures when they do happen. You will find these analysis controls on the main Performance page.
- We have added Submodel validation, which can automatically calculate and compare values that would be predicted by the submodel you build with the simulation. Most applicable to reactor submodels, this validation lets you see how well the submodel reflects the non-linearities of the process.
