Version 4.1 - Basis and Oil Manager Enhancements

Following the large scale changes to assay synthesis in version 4.0, enhancements in Petro-SIM 4.1 focus more on functionality than synthesis technology. On functionality, we have added integration with one third party assay management system, added mechanisms for bulk processing of assays and expanded the change management options for handling assays on the Petro-SIM database.

Oils and Refinery Properties technology

  • Cetane D4737 properties now support A and B calculation methods from the ASTM standard
  • Additional detail is now available on the extended component scheme
    • C6 to C8 Olefins groups expanded with specific isomers including Di-Olefins
    • C9 and C10 Aromatics groups have additional isomers
    • Calibration methods for these components across reactors improved with ability to tune breakdown of bulk PONA to PONA Groups, giving you greater control over the distribution of Aromatics or Olefins for example between C6, C7, C8, C9, C10 and C11 groups.

Oils environment functionality

  • Oils button on toolbar allows direct access to a pre-built Oils base case without having to load a specific case. The button also allows you to access the Bulk process options that let you import, synthesize and export many assays at one time. When using the database, you can configure the export to pre-calculate properties of cuts you define.
  • Direct import of HCAMS assays (requires that you have licensed HCAMS from Haverly Systems and it is installed on your computer) using a predetermined cuts and property scheme, meaning there is nothing for you to configure. Once imported into Petro-SIM, HCAMS assays can be saved to the Petro-SIM Database or exported in XML format for use by other users.
  • Enhanced change management options for assays on Petro-SIM databases with support for public and private revisions and easier configuration of case run-time checks for assay updates

Basis functionality

Petro-SIM now supports the CAPE-OPEN Thermodynamics 1.1 standard allowing you to make use of thermodynamic property packages generated by Infochem's MultiFlash as well as third party products supporting the standard. This complements Petro-SIM's existing support for the CAPE-OPEN Unit Operation interface.
