KBC SuperTarget or WaterTarget with Sentinel Licensing

Your starting point for installation is the launch program in the root folder of the installation media. Run this, to display the following selection screen:

First, choose the required software license type:

  • Standalone (Local) Security installs the security key drivers and other utilities. Use this to set up stand-alone security with or without a local hardware key ("dongle"). This option is also used for short-term training license files, which can be used on any PC.
  • Network License > License Server installs the Sentinel RMS License Manager software onto a server. This is needed if you have a network license. For more details, see: Installing License Servers.
  • Client License Tools installs license testing and management utilities on a client PC.
Additional help on installing, or updating, a license file is given in License File Installation. You may also want to visit the Glossary of useful terms relating to Sentinel security.

The remaining choices on the selection screen let you install particular KBC software on your PC. Some options may not be available, or may not work, depending on your agreement with KBC.

Under rare circumstances, a file called lsapiw3281.dll is not installed properly. A zipped version of this file is provided here. This file needs to exist in the KBC directory under the Windows Program Common Files directory. This is called "C:\Program Files\Common Files\KBC" on a standard version of English Windows. See here for details on how to locate the directory on your PC.

Troubleshooting licensing problems

KBC software installations include several Licensing Tools that can help to solve problems and manage the license server. The one most commonly used is the KBC License Tester.
