We recommend this new version to all customers.

About Petro-SIM 6

Petro-SIM 6, following the cutting edge technology improvements introduced in Petro-SIM 5, continues to demonstrate unique, relevant innovation in Process Simulation Technology. Petro-SIM continues to reinvent process simulation technology with rigorous simulation models that generate trusted results in an intelligent, user-friendly environment for upstream, midstream, refinery or petrochemical processes. Petro-SIM provides a new approach to structuring multi-dimensional, multi-configuration, multi-period industry challenges to frame the potential solutions.

A summary of the Major Themes follows below.

  • Petro-SIM 6 Reinvents Reporting in Process Simulation
Generate reports to view results from a single simulation case to multiple cases across time from any device.
Petro-SIM Single and Multi-Case Reporting
  • Petro-SIM 6 Reinvigorates Unit Performance Monitoring
Leverage engineering software tools to monitor unit performance strategically and track performance over time and against other similar units.
Complete Petro-SIM Monitoring Offering
  • Petro-SIM 6 Revitalizes Process Technology
Improve the fidelity of process models with the industry standard in kinetic Reactor Simulation Technology, improved Thermodynamics Modeling through the native integration of KBC’s industry leading Multiflash technology, and continued improvements to heat integration capabilities and steam and utility system modeling.
Native Integration of MultiflashHeat Exchanger Improvements
  • Petro-SIM 6 Refreshes Collaboration and Integration
Incorporate leading technology into process simulation through direct integration with 3rd party software tools.
Enhanced Excel Integration

Specific Highlights for this release include:

  • Completed first stage of full Multiflash integration
This change makes a number of key Multiflash methods natively available in Petro-SIM
  • Developed hydraulics plug-in with links to Maximus and PIPESIM steady-state hydraulic simulators and OLGA transient hydraulic simulator
  • Developed new reporting framework that works across multiple cases, allowing reporting inside and outside of Petro-SIM
This new Petro-SIM reporting changes the way engineers can access information and interpret data to be able to make the most accurate and informed decisions
  • Expanded reactor technology with key advances in hydroprocessing (bed pressure drop prediction, polyaromatics predictions in distillate hydrotreating and so on) and smaller advances in FCC, Coking and Aromatics reactors.
  • Introduced a new rapid design algorithm for shell and tube heat exchangers
  • Expanded support for modeling steam systems with broader range of equipment operations and improvements to header modeling
  • Provided significant improvements to kinetic reactor model usability around error handling, data and model validation, and Excel integration
  • Expanded support for standard unit monitoring applications
Petro-SIM 6 enables engineers to look beyond the standard process data readings to review calculations which give greater insight into how the unit is operating and how best to improve this operation over time. Unit engineers can review cause and impact of various changes and begin to understand the interactions between different operating parameters through the use of simulation.
  • Developed new steady-state network solver capability
