Recall Unit Set Conversions by Name
You can configure spreadsheets, LP and KPI utilities so that unit sets are matched by name upon recall. This means if a spreadsheet uses a unit set named Set1, and the preference file already has a Set1 when the case is recalled, that Set1 from the preferences file is used.
Changing to Match By Unit Set Name is intended for use in situations where you ensure all users of this case use consistent preference files and take care with any inferred units in formulas. Use otherwise or without care is a potential hazard.
If you load a case and you get a dialog box warning you that some units need to resolve as units have changed, you can choose to proceed, cancel (in which case the model is closed), or switch. If you select the latter, the unit operations in question will be changed to Match by Unit Conversion, which does not depend on the preferences. Note that this change will apply during future recall of the case, for the current recall units will still be matched by name.
In order to better understand the issue, suppose a simulation case has a spreadsheet with a unit set named Set1 associated with it that show temperature in F. It has a a cell with a value of 15 and a variable type of Temperature. So the spreadsheet will show 15 F. Now if in the preferences view, the unit for Temperature in Set1 is changed to C, and the case then recalled, the spreadsheet will now show 15 C.
Therefore in the spreadsheet unit operation view on the Parameters page, under Unit Set Options, the safest option is to use a Recall options of Match by Unit Conversion.
Version 5 and up of Petro-SIM use a default of Match by Unit Conversion, but in some older versions of Petro-SIM Match by Unit Set Name was the default. So you may need to check your case even if you have never changed this option.
