4 SENTINEL LICENSING Back to contents

This section is relevant if you are using Sentinel standalone or network licensing.

4.1 Sentinel Standalone Licensing

If you do not already have a Sentinel license installed, the following dialog will be displayed:

To install a standalone Sentinel license, click “Yes” and then browse to locate the license file. Installation should then proceed as normal.

4.2 Sentinel Network Licensing

If you have a Sentinel network license, select “No” in the above dialog. You will then be presented with the following dialog:

If you have not already installed your network license, or if you need to install a new one, you need to do this before continuing installation of FloWax. Brief instructions for installing a network license are here. More detailed steps are given in Section 4.4

Enter the name of the license server(s) in the dialog as directed. Click “Next” and then installation should proceed as normal.

4.3 Checking out/in licensed features

For standalone Sentinel licenses, the installer should automatically check out all the features defined in the license file. However for network Sentinel licenses, the user must control which features they check in/out. This can be achieved in the FloWax interface as follows:

1. Start FloWax
2. On the Menu go to About->Manage Sentinel Licenses->Open. The FloWax License Manager is displayed:
3. Check the boxes next to the features required and click “Check out/Check in Licenses”.
4. Click “Close”

Note:

  • OLGA-S 3-phase licenses include OLGA-S 2-phase licenses
  • LEDA-PM 3-phase licenses include LEDA-PM 2-phase licences.
  • The Base License and FloWax feature is checked out by default.

To check features back in, re-enter the License Manager, deselect the relevant feature and click “Check out/Check in Licenses”.

Should the standalone installation fail to automatically check out licenses, you can use this dialog to manually check out features. Next time you start FloWax it will remember your previous settings and check the features out for you.

When FloWax is closed, all features are automatically returned to the license pool.

4.4 Installing a Network License

To install a Sentinel network license:

1. Run the FloWax launcher with admin rights (right-click and select “Run as administrator”)
2. Install the network server drivers by clicking “Network License Server”. Make sure you install both the KBC License Tester and Sentinel License Manager during the custom setup step.
3. At the end of the installation, when prompted “Do you wish to install a license file at this time?”, click Yes and browse to the location of the license file.
4. In the “Select License Server” dialog, the name of your server should appear in the box next to “Pick from the list” as in the example below. Select the server and click OK.
5. Return to the FloWax launcher. Click on the Utilities tab and install the Sentinel Admin Tools. If you need to borrow licenses from a server while working offline, you should also install the KBC Commuter License Manager.

To verify that the license file has been correctly installed and running on the Sentinel server:

1. Start the License Tester
2. Click the "Search for License Servers" button: this should list your server name
3. In the Features section, select "All Features", then select "FloWax:FloWax” from the droplist
4. Click “Check Feature License”
5. A valid INFOCHEM_waxproduct license should be checked out, with details similar to those shown below
6. Close the License Tester. It takes about 2 minutes to release the license from the Sentinel server.

Now you should proceed to install FloWax.
