Reactor Technology Updates
There have been many improvements to the refinery reactors in SIM Suite as a consequence of bringing all their capabilities inside Petro-SIM. Some of these changes are about making the reactors work better inside Petro-SIM, making greater use of assay synthesis and component estimation technology. The specific reactor changes are:
- FCC-SIM
- New characterization method for estimating core aromatics, naphthenes and paraffins contents in the feed and liquid product streams. This method has been developed from extensive plant and laboratory data on different types of feedstock and represents a significant update to the characterization accuracy.
- New method for predicting Conradson carbon content in the liquid product streams
- HCR-SIM, NHTR-SIM, DHTR-SIM, VGOHTR-SIM and RHDS-SIM
- New characterization method for estimating core aromatics, naphthenes and paraffins contents in the feed and liquid product streams. This method is the same as that added to FCC-SIM.
- Add Nitrogen effect to the HDS reaction rate calculation
- REF-SIM
- Updated catalyst EOR projections for semi-regen units
- Additional octane blending methods that take advantage of the extended component slate predictions
- DC-SIM
- Default Bromine number and PONA estimation added for Naphtha and Distillate products when no measurements were available during calibration
- Heavy Heavy Gasoil (HHGO) product cut added to the conventional recycle coker configuration
All refinery reactors predict detailed naphtha component breakdowns covering a wide range of C6 to C10 compounds. This adds significant detail to your simulations, allowing you to utilise the information throughout your unit or refinery-wide flowsheets.
The last major release of SIM Suite was version 3.0 in 2006, with 3 minor releases since that time. Each of these minor releases (3.1, 3.2 and 3.3) added to the reactor technology and this version 4 includes all of those changes.
