Reactor and Column Workbooks in Microsoft Excel

We have extended the Excel integration technology in Petro-SIM V3 and V3.1 to provide an automatic method for building multi-case Excel applications around Petro-SIM. Select the group of objects you want to include in your application in the PFD and pick the Build Excel Application option on the Object Inspect Send To menu. We provide two workbook styles:

  • Reactor Workbook, which follows the look and feel of the SIM reactor Excel workbooks with multi-case input and results sheets
  • Flowsheet Reporting Workbook, which generates a multi-case style report workbook organized by subflowsheet. These workbooks are for reporting purposes only.

Use the options in the wizard to fine-tune what will appear in Excel. Applications build in a standard style taken from the SIM workbook layout. Each Reactor Workbook application has:

  • Predict Input and Predict Results sheet
  • Optimizer Input sheet representing any main flowsheet Optimizer object
  • Charts sheet
  • Comparison sheet

Each optionally also has a pair of Calibration Input and Calibration Result sheets for your selected calibration group, together with a reactor-specific summary sheet.

Petro-SIM provides add-in functionality using a Petro-SIM Ribbon bar in Microsoft Excel 2007 and add-in menus in Microsoft Excel 2003 that lets you run simulations and manage data direct from Excel.

Customizing the workbooks

The workbook content is controlled by the objects you have in your flowsheet, with Petro-SIM using rules from its Knowledge Base to determine what to show for each object. You can freely delete and move rows around, manipulating formatting to suit your needs. You can also add extra items to individual worksheets by sending it from Petro-SIM (use the Object Inspect Send To Excel command), which will insert extra rows into sheets to reflect your items.
