Look and Feel

We have updated the default appearance of Petro-SIM with enhancements aimed at improving navigation within large cases. The left hand side of the document area contains a navigation bar that includes an integrated search bar. You will see a tree view of the flowsheet and subflowsheet hierarchy: click on a flowsheet in the tree and the PFD will change to show that flowsheet. You can change the tree contents to show different types of detail. You can easily adjust the width of this pane and hide or show it with a button click.

Within the PFD itself you will find that we have changed how the PFD operates when other views are open. Double-Click on objects in the PFD and their property views will open on top of the PFD, keeping the PFD in the background at all times. Users who have the Workbook view set as their Home preference will find that the navigation pane shows a workbook tree instead of the PFD hierarchy.

You can open a preview pane that appears on the right hand side of the document area: preview contents update as you select objects in the PFD with a single-click. The preview pane operates in conjunction with the integrated search, where clicking on an item in the search results with update the preview pane with that item.

Some pop-up views used for object selection have disappeared and been replaced with drop-down menus on buttons. Click the Utilities button on the main toolbar to see an example. Petro-SIM indicates the presence of a dropdown menu with a grey down-arrow on the button or icon.

The integrated search incorporates all the capabilities of the Simulation Navigator, Assay Users and Notes Manager views available in older versions of Petro-SIM. These superseded tools can now be found as items on the Tools, Other menu.

We have added a view magnification feature that lets you increase or reduce the size of Petro-SIM views to improve readability. View magnification will scale the fonts and controls on each view according to the scale percentage you pick. We expect this to be most useful when using non-English character sets like Chinese. You will find the View Magnification control on the bottom right of the status bar.
